About Veritya Consulting

Veritya Consulting supports witnesses by helping them understand what they can expect as a witness and what their role in the legal process is. By preparing witness testimony to be clear, coherent, and consistent, and through trauma-educated and harm-reduction approaches, I challenge beliefs around shame, self-blame, and stereotypes that can often shape legal proceedings. I build confidence so witnesses can use their voice, feel part of the process, and regain agency. The goal is to help witnesses feel informed, supported, and empowered as they testify.

About Me

I understand how overwhelming and isolating the legal process can feel! I have consistently heard that what witnesses need most is to feel prepared for the legal process. For many people, the hardest part about testifying isn’t recounting events; it’s stepping into a courtroom feeling unsafe, uncertain, exposed, or vulnerable. With my specialized education and over 25 years of experience supporting witnesses, my goal is to prepare and support you so you can regain agency and step into the role as a witness feeling informed, confident, and clear.

My journey began as a judicial clerk at the Calgary Criminal Courts, where I watched the impact of the trial process on witnesses who testified. Often feeling overwhelmed and alone, witnesses felt shocked, heartbroken, and scrutinized as they testified. I committed to easing the burden of those most vulnerable by voluntarily running the child witness preparation program, teaching children what it meant to testify, how the courtroom worked, and their role in the process. While it was heartbreaking to guide children through such experiences, I was continually inspired by their resilience, courage, and strength—qualities that empowered them to speak their truth with confidence. During this time, I earned a degree in philosophy, focusing on morality and ethics and then an education degree that led to a career in teaching.

My interest in social justice continued, so I pursued a Master’s degree in Justice Studies, focusing on gendered violence and the impacts of sexual victimization. I then completed a PhD in Educational Research, examining credibility in sexual assault cases, focusing on how the legal system assessed credibility and then how social credibility affected their identity and ability to make meaning of their experiences.

At Veritya Consulting, I am committed to sharing my knowledge to help witnesses use their voice to empower testimony. Whether you are a legal professional who would like to offload the job of witness preparation or a witness who is preparing to testify, I am here to support you throughout the process. Every step of my work is rooted in the knowledge I’ve gained over decades. With compassion, respect, and a trauma-educated approach, I can help ease the stress and burden of witness preparation.
